Haggis, pate and sauerkraut – Haggis is back this week though SUMA have sent the large 400g packs instead of the 200g. Better value but also bigger tummies will be required! More of the SUMA vegan Pate on the shelves. Also we have expanded our range of Sauerkrauts essential for gut health but also a very tasty food. Liz was very impressed by the radical red line with its caraway seed flavour but not so much with the price speaking of which….
Saving money – Prices continue to rise with each delivery and no doubt will continue as fuel costs spiral upwards. However we do differ from supermarkets in this regard. Our policy is to sell at RRP (recommended retail price) and we DO NOT reprice old stock to the new prices like supermarkets do so you can often find we will be cheaper than the supermarket at times of inflation. Plus you can buy one carrot, two apples and one banana with us unlike the supermarkets and a lot of our single customers do exactly that and find they can save a lot of money on the weekly shop. Then you can save money on shampoos, washing up liquid, detergents etc by refilling your old container and save money on oats, rice, lentils nuts etc by buying loose.
We were considering posting up inexpensive but yummy recipes that we fall back on in the week such as the Scottish dish Rumplety Thump (Colcannon if you prefer Irish cooking) or the old Italian pasta and peas recipe. Haggis neaps and tatties is another cracker considering we have Haggis back this week. You can buy all organic ingredients for these recipes in the shop and produce lovely filling nutricious meals for just a few pounds each dish. Compare that to the cost of a pre-packaged processed ready meal or with a Big Mac or a Kentucky Fried Chicken? You also need to be very aware of how supermarkets use sophisticated methods to take more money off you.

One of our customers takes an entire case of frozen blueberries for example which he uses daily in smoothies and which we can sell to him at a discount to RRP because we have no wastage. We can always order SUMA goods in for you and SUMA will break cases so you may not have to buy as much as you think – just ask Liz.
